40 Seriously Cute Dresses & Rompers You'll Live in This Spring

via Dynamite

I love dresses. If there was a zombie invasion and I had to grab one item out of my closet to take with me, I'd always choose a dress. Or, if I had a really tiny bag and was told I could only pack one piece to take on vacation, a dress would always be the one. Desert island? Definitely a dress. Save one item of clothing from a fire? I'd grab the dress. First dates, second dates, anniversaries, baby showers, weddings, interviews - basically, I know that I'll be ready for any situation in a great dress. Here's the problem: we live in Canada. And I know you can technically wear dresses all year long. It's just, well, I never really feel like wearing dresses in the winter. It's like Oscar-nominated movies that you know you should probably watch but you'd just rather binge on something light like Big Little Lies or Real Housewives.  Dresses in the winter just feel like a ton of work - you need to wear tights which always feel constricting and itchy, dresses look really dorky with Sorels and then there's the wind issue which is never fun.

Now that spring's finally here, I am all about dresses and rompers. Any day now, the temps will remain in the teens and then, I could pretty much put all of my other clothes in a storage box and live in dresses and rompers for the next 4 months. You can throw them on without a second thought - no mixing and matching anxiety, no outfit planning required - and always look lovely. They work during the week with heels or chic flats and on the weekends with runners. If your legs are pale or require some lunges, you can always rock a maxi. If you want to show them off, a cute little romper gets the job done, and then some. Basically what I'm trying to say is that you need some new dresses and rompers in your life. Scroll below for my top 40 pretty picks from New Sudbury Centre. Happy FriYAY!

PRETTY LITTLE LAYERS | Our Top Picks for a Perfectly Cozy Fall

via Watchabuy

Think the colder weather means the end of looking cute until next spring? Hold up. With the right layering pieces, you can greet the next several months in style without sacrificing a single second of warmth.

Read on for the cozy picks you'll love to live in this season. As for that cold weather? Brrring it on.

WHY YOU'LL LOVE IT | Never underestimate the power of a perfect crewneck sweatshirt - it's classic, it's cozy, and it lends instant chill to any outfit. Want to wear your sequined skirt all day? Go for it. Just add a grey sweatshirt and cute white kicks. Sexy black waxed skinnies and pumps need some taming? Add a grey sweatshirt. Go a size up from what you normally buy to look stylish, not stuffed.

OUR PICK | Raglan Crew Sweatshirt, $46, American Eagle

WHY YOU'LL LOVE THEM | There are so many ways to justify living in your black leggings on the daily, from the obvious comfort factor to the ease with which they work into your wardrobe. Still. I mean, do leggings really have to be so basic? If you haven't already, look for leather (faux or real) details to add some interest to your leggings this season. Simply add a chambray shirt, a cozy knit, some black ankle boots and a fun scarf (see below) for any cool fall day or family photoshoot that comes your way.

OUR PICK | Black Pleather Insert Leggings, $59.90, Cleo

WHY YOU'LL LOVE IT | Since every woman owns that same plaid scarf by now (you know the one), this fall feels like the perfect time for a switch-up. Whether you choose a fun star motif, an animal print, or a graphic that helps you express your M.O., pick a playful scarf to throw on when it gets freezing or to toss oh-so-awesomely over your couch like a Pinterest pro. Good vibes all around.

OUR PICK | Good Vibes Scarf, $29.95, Garage

WHY YOU'LL LOVE IT | A turtleneck is a super sleek and easy way to update your wardrobe staples for the colder weather ahead. Wear it with a pleated skirt and over-the-knee boots, layered under a shift dress, instead of a scarf (on those days you don't feel like wearing a scarf) or with those overalls you rocked all summer. Keep it fitted, keep it simple, and be sure to pick one up in grey, black and white - you're going to need them all.

OUR PICK | Kismet Clare Turtleneck, $39.90, Bootlegger

WHY YOU'LL LOVE THEM | This fall, don't let your extras be an afterthought; they might be little but gloves and scarves can totally make or break your outerwear game. You can never go wrong with black or grey but next time you shop, pick up a colour-blocked hat and a pair of mixed media gloves - practical enough to go with any of your coats but with just the right amount of detail to keep things interesting.

OUR PICKS | Knit and Faux Leather Gloves, $40, ALDO; Roxana Pom Pom Toque, $30, Roots

WHY YOU'LL LOVE IT | Don't suffer through another Saturday morning hockey practice alone. A S'well bottle will keep you company on the bench and keep your hot drinks (tea, coffee, Baileys - we won't judge) piping hot for up to 12 hours. Here's hoping hockey practice won't last quite that long...

OUR PICK | S'well Bikini Pink Water Bottle, $46.99, Jean Machine

WHY YOU'LL LOVE IT | Think cozy has to mean shapeless? Meet the sweater dress - one of the sexiest ways to warm up this winter. The knit will hug your curves and show off your shape, whether you're heading to work (um, maybe add some black tights in that case) or going out for a cozy dinner date.

WE LOVE | Midi Sweater Dress, $64.90, Dynamite

WHY YOU'LL LOVE IT | Hit the snooze button one too many times? Here's a fast wardrobe fix, guaranteed to make your mornings a breeze: choose a monochromatic base (black, grey or off-white), then simply add a long vest and black ankle boots. Faux fur is always a cute option or go with one of fall's hottest outerwear trends: the sherpa vest. Kind of makes you want to climb to the top of a very large hill. Or hunker down for an epic Netflix sesh by the fire. Totally up to you. ;)

OUR PICK | Textured Faux Sherpa Vest, $79.95, Le Château

WHY YOU'LL LOVE IT | Hoodies made fashion headlines this season as the stylish sweat of choice. Whether you wear it with a skirt (seriously) or your workout gear, opt for a zip hoody with thoughtful details; we love this one for its colour-blocking, its figure-flattering seaming and of course, those super cool thumbholes.

OUR PICK | Hyba Hooded Quilted Jacket, $69.90, Reitmans

WHY YOU'LL LOVE THEM | When it comes to the weather, fall is a funny time - from pouring rain to freezing mornings to those unexpected f-words (I'll just say it: flurries) - which makes footwear decisions tougher than usual. Since tall winter boots often feel way too clunky between seasons, you'll need a pair of transitional boots in your life to get you from A to B and back again. BTW, Timberlands = instant street cred.

OUR PICKS | Timberland Flannery Sneaker Boot, $119.99, Journeys; Birdy Lace-Up Boots, $110, ALDO

WHY YOU'LL LOVE THEM | If you want to look chic from your toque to your toes, sport socks just aren't gonna cut it. We love cabin socks for all the practical and the pretty they provide to our rainboots and snow boots and every other boot we'll live in this season.

OUR PICK | Ashli Cabin Sock 2-Pack, $18.50, Roots

WHY YOU'LL LOVE THEM | With the athleisure trend going nowhere, it's perfectly acceptable to wear your joggers in public right now. The key to keeping it stylish? Make sure your joggers are a not-too-tight slim fit, with figure flattering seams and knees that won't stretch out. If you like the baggier look, look for joggers with volume through the thigh and tapered cuffs at the ankles. Go for a grey or black pair and you can take them from your house to the grocery store without missing a beat.

OUR PICK | Training Pant, $74, Roots

WHY YOU'LL LOVE IT | A pretty colour block poncho is the perfect way to add a subtle pop of print to your solid turtlenecks, classic white button-downs or denim shirts this fall. Once the real cold arrives, don't be afraid to layer it over your black coat to make winter way more stylish. Aaand, that's a wrap. ;)

OUR PICK | Grey Colour Block Poncho Wrap, $49.90, Cleo

JUMP ON IT | Brighten Up Your Winter Wardrobe Blahs

via Kate Spade

We're all feeling it right now. The deep freeze doneness. The all-black boredom. That all-consuming craving for brightness, lightness and warmth. Since we can't promise that the forecast is going to turn around anytime soon, it's up to us to do something about it. Luckily, our clothing is something we can control, so let's steer away from the black and grey for a moment shall we? I've found 15 bright ideas to help you beat your winter wardrobe blahs, with pieces that you can wear both now and later. The end of Feb is only a handful of days away so I can't think of a better time to brighten up. Happy (almost) March!

WEAR THEM NOW | Mirrored shades are a March must-have - not only to protect your eyes from the bright white (far from melting) snow but to show that you're mentally ready for the warm weather party ahead. Plus, with your dark parka, black pants and Sorels, your outerwear look is just begging for a pop of colour right  now.

WEAR THEM LATER | Inexpensive mirrored shades will be a fun switch-up from your oversized dark sunnies, and will look amazing with denim, whites and brights alike this summer.

OUR PICK | Mirrored Icon Sunglasses, $21, American Eagle

WEAR IT NOW | Feel like your winter coat could use a little help? Keep cozy in the deep freeze by adding an extra layer in the form of a bright coral cardi. Let the bright sleeves pop out to add an unexpected punch to your cuffs when you're all zipped up.

WEAR IT LATER | A long bright cardigan will look gorgeous over your shorts and tees and even layered up over  your little white dress. We especially love coral paired with pale pink, khaki, white and navy, with shiny gold accessories, of course.

OUR PICK | Kismet Coral Cardigan, $45, Bootlegger

WEAR THEM NOW | Many of us gravitate towards muted metallic jewelry in the winter, and bright bold pieces in the summer months, but we see no reason to wait. This fun little bracelet set makes a small but mighty statement that spring is just around the corner.

WEAR THEM LATER | When the warm weather hits, layer on the fun by adding a white watch, friendship threads and gold rings to your simple bracelet set. Too much of a good thing? Perfect.

OUR PICK | Disc Bracelets, $12, ALDO

WEAR IT NOW | A painterly blouse introduces a perfect pop of colour to your 9-to-5 looks and lets you play with spring pastels long before Easter arrives. We love how this blouse combines pastels with black so you can easily pair it up with your black suits, blazers and pencil skirts (+ opaque black tights) right now.

WEAR IT LATER | Wear this blouse to work in the spring/summer months with a black pencil skirt or tailored trousers, and black pointy-toe pumps. Rock it on the weekends with white jean shorts, a white necklace, and a pair of nude sandals. Bonus style points if you add a pale denim jacket or little pink moto bomber (see below) to the mix.

OUR PICK | Vero Moda Art Blouse, $45, Bootlegger

WEAR IT NOW | We'll wear this beauty with everything from jeans and a white shirt to a black wool mini, black tights and ankle booties.

WEAR IT LATER | Spring can be pretty cool so we'll switch up our trench coat for this pretty pink bomber on any non-rainy day this spring. Note: motorcycle not required.

OUR PICK | Faux Leather Moto Jacket, $75.90, Smart Set

WEAR THEM NOW | Winter boots are so practical that it just doesn't make sense to be responsible with your footwear indoors. These cobalt stunners are a subtle way to try out colour, even if you're not a 'colour person'.

WEAR THEM LATER | Cobalt blue is a seasonless fav since it pairs well with everything from moody blacks to easy denim to breezy whites. Whether you're in need of a pedi or just want to dress up, these cobalt shoes will work into your wardrobe all year.

OUR PICK | Croco Print Leather Pumps, $80, ALDO

WEAR IT NOW | Consider a bright neon sweater your good deed for mankind. You might not realize it, but seeing you in this sweater will give people hope, give them a light at the end of the tunnel, make them feel ...happy. Or at least, that's how I'm going to justify it ;)

WEAR IT LATER | White shorts, jean shorts, pink shorts, green shorts. Pretty much every pair of shorts will benefit from this preppy J.Crew-esque beaded sweater this summer.

OUR PICK | Sweater with Beaded Detail, $34.99, Smart Set

WEAR IT NOW | Now that March is almost here, it's time to stow away your winter scarves and switch them up for something a little more springy. This pink fringed scarf will brighten up even the most grey day and will look just brilliant against your blacks and whites.

WEAR IT LATER | An eternity scarf is fuss-free and big impact, making it the perfect way to add style to an otherwise basic spring look. Wear it to brighten up everything from your tan trench to your grey jeans this spring.

OUR PICK | Fringe Eternity Scarf, $19.50, Bootlegger

WEAR THEM NOW | Whether you have any intention of hitting the gym or not, New Balance sneakers are a worthwhile investment. Both comfy and cute, these pastel kicks will help update your winter wardrobe, one step at a time.

WEAR THEM LATER | Sneakers outside of the gym? The trend is still going strong and we love the pastel update for spring. Outfit inspiration here, here and here

OUR PICK | New Balance Pastel Sneakers, $89, American Eagle

WEAR IT NOW | You might not feel ready for a sunshine yellow handbag or a bright turquoise tote, but a soft blue looks just right this time of year to help you stand out in a sea of black bags.

WEAR IT LATER | Spring and summer wardrobes are supposed to be more relaxed than their fall/winter counterparts. But sometimes, you need structure to look pulled-together. This blue satchel will not only elevate your casual pieces but still looks office-appropriate.

OUR PICK | Satchel, $45, ALDO

WEAR IT NOW | Pale blue works wonders at lightening up your look and looks fresh worn with black, tan and leopard print. Whether you opt for a crisp pale blue button-down or go for a pale chambray, every woman should add a pale blue shirt to her outfit rotation.

WEAR IT LATER | You'll wear this military denim shirt with your black shorts and white jeans and worn open or your summer dresses once the weather allows.

OUR PICK | Military Denim Blouse, $39.90, Dynamite

WEAR IT NOW | A bright red mini will pop against a backdrop of black - think opaque black tights, black ankle booties and a black turtleneck.

WEAR IT LATER | If you've been blessed with toned legs and/or aren't afraid of going short, this skirt will make a head-turning statement this summer. We love how this girl is wearing her red mini with a white tee and nude heels. Eiffel Tower in the background optional but highly recommended.

OUR PICK | Flared Jacquard Mini, $24.95, Dynamite

WEAR IT NOW | Who says blazers have to be boring? This pretty coral double-breasted jacket will help you dress like a boss at work, and manages to look both beautiful and business-like all at once. We'd wear it with both black and navy.

WEAR IT LATER | See above, minus the black tights.

OUR PICK | Made in Canada Military Jacket, $179.95, Le Château

WEAR IT NOW | Looking for an inexpensive way to breathe new life into your current wardrobe? Pick up a bold statement necklace like this beauty to brighten up your basic sweaters and shirts for under $30.

WEAR IT LATER | Big gems will transform a plain white blouse, basic grey tee or solid chambray shirt into outfits worth remembering. Just remember - these gems are meants to be worn all day.

OUR PICK | Gem Statement Collarbone Necklace, $29.95, Le Château

WEAR IT NOW | Formal affair on your calendar this March? Avoid tricky tight situations, freezing cold parking lot runs and little black dress boredom with a bright maxi, and stylishly set the bar at your next corporate party, wedding, or gala dinner. Oh, and if you're lucky enough to be going on vacay, this dress will pack up perfectly for that, too.

WEAR IT LATER | Who says a maxi dress has to be a formal-occasions-only piece? Worn with a little denim jacket and flat sandals, this dress will be your new statement go-to this spring.

OUR PICK | Resort Knot Maxi, $69.90, Ricki's
