FALL FOR IT | 5 Wearable Fall Trends We're Totally Feeling

via Roots

When it comes to fashion, let's face it: being Canadian is a total dream. I mean, since we live through all four seasons, we get to switch our wardrobes with the weather. If you're like me, you've finally put away your summer things and have started to wear your fall favourites. You've probably taken stock of the things you'll be living in for the next few months and are currently wondering what to add to your closet to get it up-to-date. Me too.

So I did a little trend shopping. And while I'm always tempted by some of the boundary-pushing trends I see on the runways, a few key trends always stand out as the most wearable. These are the pieces you'll live in every day and by just adding a few key items to what you already own, you'll look like you're totally with it. So which ones made the cut? If your fall wardrobe is mostly made up of blacks and greys, you're going to love fall's bold reds and purples. From a texture perspective, it's all about adding faux fur and velvet to give depth to your look. And for weekends, I can't wait to cozy up in some of the season's oversized sweaters (look for statement sleeves and asymmetrical hems for Fall '17) paired up with waxy leggings or relaxed joggers and comfy kicks.

Happy fall that finally feels like fall. Scroll down for my wonderful, totally wearable picks.

FALL FASHION SPECIAL | How to Slay Fall for Under $100

via Dynamite

I have a growing list of concerns when it comes to fall shopping. First, the jeans. My old ones look old, but not old enough to look vintage, so I need new ones that look vintage but aren't, if you know what I mean. Then, the sweaters - I mean, nothing gets you over the loss of summer faster than a cozy oversized sweater paired with perfect boots. Speaking of which, don't even get me started on boots. You'd only have to glance at my bursting closets to realize I do n.o.t. need new shoes but somehow, every fall, there I am taking home blue velvet ankle boots that I 'had to have' and over-the-knee suede boots that I literally 'could not live without'. So many wants. So many bills.

While I firmly believe in investing in quality pieces that you love, I've found loads of fantastic pieces that fall well within my shopping budget this year. The stores are loaded with cozy, well-made finds that you can add to your existing wardrobe now to get it right up to date. Silver shoes, beautifully detailed knits, and subtle hits of soft pink, purple and olive green give me all the feels I need to get pumped up for the season ahead. Scroll through the thumbnails below to get your fall fashion fix. Did I mention there's nothing over $100 on this list? #slay

Happy Sept, beauties! Can't wait to shop with you this season xx

LABOUR YAY | Our Kid-Approved Back-to-School Shopping Edit

Sweet fall looks via Sears

I don't get it. No seriously - I honestly don't know where it went. One minute it was here with the sun and the patios and those extra long days stretching out before us. And now here we are - only 1 week to go before back-to-school and I don't know about you but I've barely thought about it. Last year's shoes are definitely too small by now. Their pants are for sure flood-ready. So really, there's no avoiding it: it's time to get serious about back-to-school.

This year, I asked my kids and their friends to help me out with this edit. We went through my back-to-school picks and they gave me their stamp of approval. Anything deemed uncool didn't make the cut. In the end, we ended up with everything from flip sequin backpacks (one of their top picks) and funny graphic tees to super cool light-up shoes and the latest tech. For picture day picks, I did that myself - after all you can really only appreciate how your parents made you dress up for school pics maaany years later. It's a thing.

Happy last week of holidays. Hope you're ending your summer off in the most epic way.
