SPRING FORWARD | 12 On-Point Pieces That Will Change Your Fashion Game

via the Reitmans Spring Campaign

Don't you just love spring? The flowers, the warmth, the SUN. Don't you just love the sun? Spring always feels like the perfect time for a fresh start and while that might apply to many areas of your life, perhaps the most fun thing to refresh is your wardrobe. A new season means clearing out your closet of the old and tired, and infusing it with some fun new pieces. Luckily, you don't have to spend a lot to make a big impact on your style. An eyelet top here and a fringed earring there and suddenly, you've given your closet staples new life. Read on for 12 on-point pieces that will totally change your fashion game this spring, including a few pairs of shoes I can't wait to get my newly pedicured toes into. Sigh...don't you just love shoes? ;)

STYLING TIPS |  No need to overthink it - a black maxi is all about being easy-breezy and since it covers your legs, it'll keep you covered while the weather makes up its mind. Simply add a pair of chic flats (see below), a pair of fringed statement earrings (below as well) and a little denim jacket (if the weather calls for one) and you're good to go.

WE LOVE | Sleeveless Maxi Dress, $64.90, Reitmans

STYLING TIPS | Forget your old basic flops and boring Birks - this season's warm weather footwear is all about fun embellishments. We're especially smitten with pretty pom poms this spring since they add instant fun to any outfit. Ooh, better book that pedi, stat.

WE LOVE | Pompom Sandals, $49.99, Call It Spring

STYLING TIPS | Tortoiseshell is classic and shiny black is timeless, too. But if you really want to kick your wardrobe up a notch this spring, never let your sunglasses be an afterthought. We've waited so many months for the sun to come - now it's time to celebrate with colourful lenses (how fun are these purple Ray-Bans?) and shimmery gold frames.

WE LOVE | Ray-Ban Mirror Collection, $235, Sunglass Hut; Quay Harper Sunglasses, $74.99, Jean Machine

STYLING TIPS | Most of us have our basic layers covered. Solid black tee? Check. Plain white tank? Check. Been there, done those. This spring, try upgrading your layers with a detailed sleeveless blouse. Look for textured white (think florals, eyelet and lace) or interesting twists on old classic (like the knot detail on this striped tank). Whether worn solo or under your spring coat, you'll look like you've put in loads of effort without lifting a finger.

WE LOVE | Sleeveless Embroidered Blouse, $44.90, ReitmansSleeveless Striped Blouse, $42.90, Reitmans

STYLING TIPS | We all have our go-to black bag because let's face it - black really does go with everything. As a professional stylist, I have a small collection of bright bags on hand, too because let's face it - sometimes it's fun to buy things we don't really need. This spring, I've been hunting for a non-black bag that I can wear with everything and I've officially ended my search with this woven beauty from Roots. Chic, hands-free, and designed to get better with wear and handcrafted in Canada (insert applause here), this bag will take you from grocery runs with your littles to weekend brunch with your besties without missing a beat. Just so you're aware, this weave is available in loads of other shapes from a bucket to a tote, depending on your budget and your needs. LOOOVE.

WE LOVE | Small Zoe Bag Woven, $228, Roots

STYLING TIPS | If you've somehow avoided the culotte trend for the past few seasons, you're not too late to get in on the action. Culottes just make you look cooler right now. It's a fact. Wear them to work with block heels and on weekends with runners. The takeaway? Ditch your skinnies and go wide. It's time.

WE LOVE | Wide Leg Cropped Pants, $44.90, Reitmans

STYLING TIPS | With wedding and shower season upon us, many of us are currently on the hunt for something formal. Instead of dedicating your hunt to dresses, why not give jumpsuits a try? Spring's new dressy jumpsuits are all grown-up, with sexy slits and figure-flattering details to make you the best-dressed guest at any party. Simply add sleek metallic heels and a pair of statement earrings to finish off your look.

WE LOVE | Floral Palazzo Jumpsuit, $59.95, Dynamite; Palazzo Leg Slit Jumpsuit, $59.95, Dynamite

STYLING TIPS | With all of the cute cold-shoulder tops and dresses out this season, it's no surprise that statement earrings are a big spring story. Swap our your simple studs for earrings that skim your shoulders, from playful gold stars to oversized tassels - then be ready to look extra amazeballs all day long.

WE LOVE | Gold Star Earrings, $7.99, Call It Spring; Tassel Earrings, $12.95, Le Château

STYLING TIPS |

WE LOVE | Crêpe Open-Front Ruched Vest, $129.95, Le Château

STYLING TIPS | As Canadians, we only have a few good months where we can expose ourselves. I mean, expose ourselves in a totally legal, appropriate way. What I'm saying is that my legs haven't seen the sun in forever. My arms haven't felt the warm air in months. Celebrate our precious few months of sun by storing your jeans and busting out a pretty denim dress. Wear this on its own or layer it over a white tee with white kicks for ultimate cool girl steeze.

WE LOVE | Sleeveless Midi Dress, $49.90, Reitmans

STYLING TIPS | Put florals on a black background and suddenly, you've gone from girly to grown-up. We love this modern shirt dress for its wardrobe versatility. Tired of wearing the same old same old to work everyday? This dress with black glasses (fake or real), a black blazer and pointy black flats looks totally office appropriate. Try it as a tunic over white jeans or leather leggings and black ankle boots for lunch with friends. And of course, wear it with bare legs, pink suede block heel sandals (below) and a smile when the weather finally cooperates. Nobody will believe you got this at Reitmans.

WE LOVE | Floral Print Dress, $64.90, Reitmans

STYLING TIPS | These sandals look super expensive thanks to their pretty pink hue, soft faux-suede finish and delicate floral details. While you might be tempted to pick a more typically neutral colour (ie. black or tan), remember that amazing shoes are always worth the risk and that pink really is a new neutral.

WE LOVE | Floral Faux-Suede Sandal, $69.95, Le Château

TRANSITIONAL DRESSING 101 | How to Look Spring-Ready Right Now

via Telegraph.co.uk

Each year, Canadians can always count on certain sure signs that winter's on its way out. Whether it's that first crocus popping out of your garden or that dude who rocks shorts and sandals on the first warm day of the year, it's easy to tell when the warm weather's almost here. Emphasis on the almost. Spring likes to tease us with its flashes of sun and double digits one day, then wallop us with snow the next. Sure, dressing is a little tricky this time of year, but that shouldn't stop you from wearing your spring things now. I'm not going to wait for the weather to make up its mind - after all, my mind's already made up. I'm in love with all of the brights and florals and whites that signal the start of the warm season. Luckily, we don't have to wait any longer to wear this season's freshest finds - simply mix your winter and spring pieces to make transitional dressing a total breeze. Read on for how to look spring-ready right now. Happy weekend!

SHINE BRIGHT | 4 Fun New Ways To Dress Up This Holiday Season

via Le Château

One month out from Christmas and we're officially in the thick of it. We're about to embark on a month-long bingefest of eating and drinking and general merry-making. And while you might be tempted to throw on your flannel onesie, snuggle up in your mermaid blanket and just call it a day, remember that 'tis the season for dressing up, too. I mean, other than summer, is there any time of year more social than December?

You'll be out grabbing gifts with your fellow shoppers, fuelling up at brunches with big men dressed in red, sipping cocktails with your co-workers and fêting all things festive. And then there's all that time with your family - from Christmas recitals to epic full-day feasts. Your flannel onesie is not going to impress your mother-in-law. You are better than your flannel onesie.

And so, for all the reasons you'll want to dress up this season, I've rounded up some lovely outfit ideas to take you through the hols in style, without a single predictable LBD in the mix. Want to stay comfy on an extra cold day? Velvet joggers, an off-the shoulder knit, a festive red lip and pom-poms on your kicks will take your low-key look next level. Heading to a cocktail party? Banish basic black in favour of soft pink and winter white. Hoping to look extra cute at your next family 'do? Try a voluminous tulle skirt, a long cardi and ankle boots for the win. And if you like to plan ahead, a sleek bodysuit, sequined skirt and over-the-knee boots will help you shine brighter than any disco ball this NYE.

Happy Black Friday! Can't think of a better day to treat yourself, can you?
