TRENDING | 5 Easy Updates You Need in Your Wardrobe RN

via Reitmans on Instagram

The mid-Feb struggle is real. Everyone is going on vacay, the weather is all over the map and you are so, SO sick of wearing snowboots every day. Your feet are desperate for a pedi but what's the point? Unless you're lucky enough to be headed somewhere tropical, your toes won't see the sunlight for another few months anyway. So what's one to do? Why, shop, of course!

Clear out your closet of anything that doesn't fit, doesn't flatter and doesn't make you feel amazeballs. It's the Family Day long weekend so you have an extra day to do some early spring cleaning. Okay, done? Now, it's time for a few updates. Here are 5 easy ways to upgrade your wardrobe right now:

1) LAYER UP - There are loads of tempting silk camis and slip dresses in stores but it's way too early to go sleeveless. Here's the fix: take a body-con white, black or grey long-sleeve tee or bodysuit and layer your cami or slipdress over top. You'll look cool and current and ready for spring, even if the weather's not.

2) GET NEW (OLD) JEANS - Denim has made a trip back to the '90s with stiff, selvedge jeans replacing the stretchy skinnies of the past several seasons. From high-waisted mom jeans to stiff straight-legs to clean, classic bootcuts, the most on-point pairs of jeans look refreshingly new, yet oh-so-familiar.

3) STATEMENT SLEEVES - When it comes to tops this season, sleeves are anything but an afterthought. Look for bell sleeves, dramatic flounces and cool tie-up details to add loads of interest to your top half. Waves, high-fives and dabs highly encouraged.

4) THE NEW COLD SHOULDER - If you fell in love with cold shoulder tops last summer, you'll be happy to hear that they're back and more interesting than ever this season. Ruffle details, pretty florals and nautical stripes will get your wardrobe right up to speed.

5) BLOCK PARTY - So, open-toes aren't an option quite yet. But whether you're heading somewhere hot or just want to have some new shoes to get excited about for the minute the snow melts, remember that for Spring '17, it's all about the block heel. We love the sturdy comfort of a stacked heel so you can get the height you crave without the wobble.

SHINE BRIGHT | 4 Fun New Ways To Dress Up This Holiday Season

via Le Château

One month out from Christmas and we're officially in the thick of it. We're about to embark on a month-long bingefest of eating and drinking and general merry-making. And while you might be tempted to throw on your flannel onesie, snuggle up in your mermaid blanket and just call it a day, remember that 'tis the season for dressing up, too. I mean, other than summer, is there any time of year more social than December?

You'll be out grabbing gifts with your fellow shoppers, fuelling up at brunches with big men dressed in red, sipping cocktails with your co-workers and fêting all things festive. And then there's all that time with your family - from Christmas recitals to epic full-day feasts. Your flannel onesie is not going to impress your mother-in-law. You are better than your flannel onesie.

And so, for all the reasons you'll want to dress up this season, I've rounded up some lovely outfit ideas to take you through the hols in style, without a single predictable LBD in the mix. Want to stay comfy on an extra cold day? Velvet joggers, an off-the shoulder knit, a festive red lip and pom-poms on your kicks will take your low-key look next level. Heading to a cocktail party? Banish basic black in favour of soft pink and winter white. Hoping to look extra cute at your next family 'do? Try a voluminous tulle skirt, a long cardi and ankle boots for the win. And if you like to plan ahead, a sleek bodysuit, sequined skirt and over-the-knee boots will help you shine brighter than any disco ball this NYE.

Happy Black Friday! Can't think of a better day to treat yourself, can you?

WHAT TO WEAR TO WORK (When Getting Dressed is the Last Thing You Want to Do)

via Atlantic-Pacific

With the long weekend only hours away, the last thing on most of our minds is work. Hmmm...not sure about you but anyone else feel like this a lot lately? Summer is a tough time to stay motivated - whether it's tackling a big project or simply getting dressed every day. After all, with our Facebook feeds loaded with pics of cottages, camping trips and epic road trips (#blessed), it's tempting to just toss on our flip flops and call it a day.

Since most of us need to work so we can play, I thought I'd try to help with a little sartorial motivation. These pretty summer pieces will make getting dressed for work just a little more enticing. And you know my philosophy on this - if getting motivated involves shopping, I'm always game :)

Happy looong weekend, beauties! Hope you enjoy every single summer minute.

HOW TO WEAR IT | Late night on the patio with your best friend Mojito? Up all night after a(nother) music festival? Summer comes loaded with excuses to hit the snooze button, meaning it's all about finding pieces that require as little effort as possible. Wear this throw-on-and-go black maxi to the office, then pack a pair of bold statement earrings in your bag - I mean, you never know what after-work plans might pop up between 9 and 5.

OUR PICK | Willow & Thread Button-Down Maxi Dress, $54, Reitmans

HOW TO WEAR IT | Tired of wearing the same old outfit to work day after day after day? Zzzzzz... A vest works wonders at helping you instantly look profesh, even if you're wearing a super basic outfit underneath. Try this neutral vest over a white sleeveless shirt & black pants (see pic above), over a black dress, with a black tank & pencil skirt or even with jeans and a white tee if your office is down with denim.

OUR PICK | Sleeveless Vest, $69.90, Reitmans

HOW TO WEAR IT | Overalls at the mine or on the construction site? Of course. But overalls at the office? Who knew? These silky dungaree overalls are a super stylish way to switch things up for your Mon-Fri. Wear these with a white tailored shirt underneath or a sleek fitted tee. Add cool metallic loafers if you work in a creative environment or add a pair of killer heels and statement glasses (fake or real, we won't judge) to look like a total boss.

OUR PICK | Tom Tailor Dungaree Overalls, $85, Bootlegger

HOW TO WEAR IT | From scorching hot outside to freezing cold in your cubicle, is it any wonder so many of us have trouble dressing for work in the summer? Keep this gorgeous oversized scarf at your desk to ward off the chill and look totally cool while you're at it.

OUR PICK | Provinces Scarf, $50, Roots

HOW TO WEAR THEM | Since you can forget about bare feet and flip-flops at work, you can fully justify buying yourself a pretty new pair of pumps. Consider these blue suede beauties your own little summer bonus for working so hard while everyone else is on vacay.

OUR PICK | Italian Suede Fringe Pump, $150, Le Château

HOW TO WEAR IT | A textured white tank is such a great summer buy. You can wear it on weekends with shorts of course, but it looks equally awesome at work, either solo with a skirt or peeking out under a blazer or cardi.

OUR PICK | Eyelet Knit Illusion Top, $29.99, Le Château

HOW TO WEAR IT | Between Beyoncé's Lemonade and Hillary making a run for the White House, women are finally having their moment. Embrace your girl power in this unapologetically feminine floral skirt - so pretty yet so powerful, just like you.

OUR PICK | B-Envied Floral Full Midi Skirt, $49.99, Jean Machine

HOW TO WEAR THEM | No matter what you throw on, every outfit looks just a little more amazing when you rock a pair of statement earrings (especially when you don't have to blow your whole paycheque on them). We'd wear these stunners with just about everything but think they'd look especially great with a classic white shirt or head-to-toe black.

OUR PICK | Cabochon Gem Chandelier Earrings, $22, Le Château

HOW TO WEAR IT | Every workplace is different but if you happen to work for a progressive company, a cold shoulder sweater is a gorgeous option. This v-neck will carry you through the summer straight into the fall and is so much more interesting than a basic sweater.

OUR PICK | V-Neck Cold Shoulder Sweater, $49.95, Le Château

HOW TO WEAR THEM | Classic black. Practical tan. No-nonsense navy. All fine, all good, but on those days when I need a little extra motivation to make it to work, I'll be throwing on these floral beauties. Pick one of the many colours in the floral print to go matchy or stick with black or white - the good news with these pants is that you can let them make the statement and keep the rest of your look super simple.

OUR PICK | Floral Print Viscose Crêpe Pant, $49.95, Le Château

HOW TO WEAR IT | From lunch with your colleagues to toting your stuff to and from work, your workday just got a whole lot brighter thanks to this beauty of a bag. If you need something larger to fit a laptop, there are loads of bold and bright options in stores that aren't black next time you're ready for an upgrade. No excuses.

OUR PICK | Top Handle Pom Pom Tote, $65, ALDO
