THE EDIT: 10 FALL TRENDS TO TRY

Gisele Bundchen in the Isabel Marant F/W 2014 Campaign. Via Isabel Marant.

Every season brings its own fashion joys. And while spring, summer and winter each hold their own unique temptations, nothing beats fall fashion. The cozy sweaters are enough to make us excited for below-average temps, the perfectly-ripped jeans give us instant edge, and the gorgeous boots inspire us to walk that extra mile, if only so we can show them off to admiring passersby.

From the hip new fedoras to the season's must-own handbag silhouette, I've rounded up the 10 fall trends to try this season from New Sudbury Centre. Speaking of temptations...

HOW TO WEAR IT: Sometimes it takes a few seasons for people to latch onto a trend. Remember when skinny jeans looked super weird? Or when people who wore running shoes with skirts looked totally out of touch? The fedora, once reserved for supermodels and socialites, has finally hit the mainstream. If you don't own one already, you'll be glad you waited since the new crop of fedoras are anything but basic. This fall, look for rich colours (merlot, navy or charcoal grey) and edgy details like chains or tassels.

OUR PICK: Chain Detail Fedora, $25, ALDO

HOW TO WEAR THEM: Fall '14 Denim is all about bleached out, ripped up and slouchy. While we love boyfriend jeans from the front, they're baggy in all the wrong ways from behind. I mean, seriously, who wants a droopy bum? Thankfully, tomgirl jeans have replaced the bf's of seasons past - ripped and relaxed but with higher pockets at the back to give you a good rear view. Wear them with your slip-on sneakers and sweatshirts on the weekend or dress them up with a button-down shirt, blazer and heels when you want to impress.

OUR PICK: Destroyed Tomgirl Jean, $45, American Eagle

HOW TO WEAR IT: No fabric screams fall quite like plaid. For Fall '14, you really can't go wrong no matter how you wear the print - from classic plaid shirts (worn open over a tee or done right up), to plaid printed pants, to matching pant suits. Our fav way to wear the print for everyday is in small doses with a cute handbag or a pair of double-take boots like these fa.bu.lous ankle boots from It Brit designer Ostwald Helgason.

OUR PICK: Ostwald Helgason x ALDO RISE Ankle Boot, $180, ALDO

HOW TO WEAR IT: While some trends are a one-season wonder, the anorak is here to stay. If your old anorak's looking a little loveworn these days, get updated with one of the season's modern takes. We love anoraks with leather details, pretty new shades (think navy or merlot), and cozy fur trim.

OUR PICK: Margo Brushed Cotton & Lamb Leather Anorak, $199, Danier

HOW TO WEAR IT: If your first reaction to the above necklace is, 'Where would I wear that?!', think again. This statement piece is designed to be worn all day, any day, with everything from your blouses and sweaters at work, to jeans and tees on the weekend. The point? Life is just way too short not to sparkle.

OUR PICK: Mixed Metal Choker, $35, ALDO

HOW TO WEAR THEM: Aside from the now-unmentionable Uggs, trendy shoes and comfort have been mutually exclusive. Luckily, the fashion world's recent obsession with sneakers has changed all that. From printed slip-on kicks to vintage New Balance runners, any running shoe will do as long as you don't set foot anywhere near a gym. Bonus points this season if you wear your sneakers with something unexpected, like skirts, dresses or a blazer.

OUR PICK: New Balance 574 Sneaker, American Eagle

HOW TO WEAR IT: If there's one shape that's stood out as the silhouette of the season, it's the bucket bag. We love that the silhouette is super practical thanks to its easy drawstring closure and the perfect in-between size for holding your essentials. Look for a quality leather to beautifully withstand the long winter ahead.

OUR PICK: Roxanne Bag in Prince Leather, $268, Roots

HOW TO WEAR IT: Consider the long cardi the anithesis of the classic prep-school twinset. A little bit boho and incredibly comfy, the extra long cardi makes for the perfect layer for fall. Wear it over skinnies or leather leggings and a graphic tee or printed blouse, then add a pair of chunky-heeled ankle boots or sneakers to finish off your look. If you're searching for a coat in the coming months, remember that the similarly-relaxed blanket coat is being tapped as the hero coat of the new season.

OUR PICKS: Sedona Throwover, $138, Roots; Bouclé Knit Open Front Throwover, $69.95, Le Château; Shawl Collar Cable Knit Cardi, American Eagle

HOW TO WEAR IT: Still not ready to say goodbye to summer? Fringed accessories bring that summer festival feel right into fall. We are loving the free-spirited vibe of leather (or faux-leather) fringe, perfect on handbags, bracelets, vests, and cute fall boots.

OUR PICK: Minnetonka Triple Fringe Boot, $109, American Eagle

HOW TO WEAR IT: Any solid ensemble will benefit from this beautiful geo-patterned tote, the ideal way to add instant interest to a basic outfit. When 5 pm rolls around Friday (um, make that today...yay!), toss off your briefcase, throw down your heels, then put your weekend essentials in this beauty.

OUR PICK: Geo Pattern Tote Bag, $45, American Eagle

FALL FASHION: The 50 Most Tempting Back-to-School Buys

Photo via Teen Vogue on Instagram

It's no secret that a lot of us are jealous of the school-age set right now. I mean, their days are all planned out, their lunches are made for them, and their laundry is neatly folded for them when they get home. Unfair. But perhaps most jealousy-inducing of all is the fact that they all get to go back to their respective schools sporting brand new wardrobes. At what other age does someone grab you by the shoulders each fall and say, "I'm sorry, honey, but we need to go shopping for you today. No, don't shake your head - we are going to buy you a brand new wardrobe for fall. And you're going to like it." Like I said, unfair.

You know what I think? It's time to reclaim our shopping rights. And since the kids are all back in class, it's time for us to finally hit the stores for ourselves. Time for us to update our bags, to pick out some beautiful new boots, and to take home some super cute accessories, just because we can.

I've rounded up 50 of the most tempting fall buys, perfect for both in the classroom and out to get you all up-to-date for the new season. Oh, and by the way, you're going to like it.

SEASONLESS STYLE: Our Buy Now/Wear All Year Guide

Love this seasonless look from the InWear Summer '14 Campaign. via InWear

Smack dab in the middle of summer, we're often faced with the toughest of dilemmas: to buy, or not to buy? I mean, should you pick up that cute sundress right now, even if it's on mega sale? How about sandals, or bathing suits or super trendy pieces that might be SO last year once next summer arrives. Yet looking at all of the chunky knits and fall boots making their way into stores just doesn't feel right when it's a balmy 25 degree day.

The idea of seasonless dressing has always made sense but it's especially relevant to our generation. We live in a climate-controlled world where it can often be as freezing in your air-conditioned cubicle as on a cold December day. And in the winter, we're usually hot-flashy, whether melting in front of our gas fireplaces or driving to work on bum-burning seat warmers.

Want to know the trick to shopping smart this month? Make this mental note to self: Can I wear this all year? From denim to dresses, scroll through the slideshow below for 40 seasonless pieces that'll get you through the entire year without having to make a full wardrobe switch. And when it gets really cold again, just add a parka. Ooops....did I say that out loud? Sigh...you can go back to your air-conditioning now...

Hope you're having the best summer!
